We will try our best to obtain The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and be enrolled in the Baldrige National Quality Program. We will also performance TQM review. We will use Requirement Analysis Spreadsheet and Process-oriented failure Risk Analysis Spreadsheet.
We have Total Quality Control and follow Assurance Principles. We know 21 century is be knowledge driven century, so we will focus on this part. We focus on innovation as well. We will model Total Quality Systems and Processes with CIMpgr. We will also take into account of 18 monozukuri eco-principles. We will work on Green PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), including cross-functional design teams. We are going to develop a IT department and continuously improve the IT and IS. We focus on our design for green manufacture, assembly, disassembly, remanufacturing and recycling process. Employees training will be performed.
A brief description of the methodologies applied
To ensure that we will meet the needs and requirements of our customers, we will analyze requirements, determine their relative importance. We will also evaluate our system to meet them to make sure that our system is better than what other competitors provide. Component-Oriented Requirements Analysis (CORA) will be performed. We will use CORA to evaluate the correlation between the user requirements and available engineering solution. The next step we will subjectively evaluate how well we meet the most important requirements relative to our competitors. Last but not the least, we will evaluate the results and implement changes where necessary.
Our company, Green Ocean, have used the most popular method and model of Ranky's Integrated Sustainable iSEE, which is Green, or intelligent Sustainable Enterprise Engineering Model in the previous assignment. In Ranky's Integrated Sustainable iSEE, it believes that sustainable lean and greening process is a journey, not a destination. We know that it is different for our company to come up some common continuous improvement requirements and risk reduction solutions all the way. The process looks easy and simple, but actually it is very different. We have used professional object-oriented process modelling methods. They help and support our engineers and managers in their greening processes following international benchmarks and standards, which is critical to our Green and Sustainability, and Quality Focus.

Main TQM Requirements
Professor Ranky’s illustrated in our class and readings that design changes and improvements should be made as early in the process as possible. When we move forward, the cost of making changes grows quickly, which is the reason why TQM emphasizes the importance of requirements analysis. After scope, function and purpose of our product being defined, Green Ocean expertises will then identify the customer requirements and prioritize them. We will incorporate them into the CORA spreadsheet as showed above, and we will then analyze them in the next section that will include People Training, Approach to Management, Customer Focus, Leadership, Design green sustainable for operation processes,Reliability, Process Management, Performance, Process Approach.
Analysis of the CORA results
What do you do with the calculated AIR numbers in the CORA spreadsheet and why?
The Absolute Importance Rating (AIR) is a comparative tool that reveals the rating of an engineering solution in terms of its correlation with the customer requirements and in terms of the other engineering solutions adopted by the company. If an AIR is low it does not mean that it is not highly correlated with a customer requirement, but it is certainly less related to the overall requirements than a solution with a high AIR. A very special need might need a very special solution that is not related to most of the available solutions, therefore producing a low AIR. In this sense a decision on the viability of supporting a special need can be made if the return on the investment of solving that special need is enough to compensate for the effort that will be generated to solve the need. So, the AIR numbers indicate the importance of the Engineering solutions in accordance to the Customer critical requirements. The Engineering solutions with correlation “9” indicate that it is an important solution to the corresponding requirement. Therefore AIR value gives a bigger picture to the Engineering Team of the company to decide the Engineering solutions that will best answer the customer requirements. From the calculated AIR values, team will prioritize the engineering solutions and will try to address that and implement the learned TQM lessons. By taking the AIR values calculated in the CORA Analysis matrix and matching them up with the solutions in the same column, we can determine the best way to satisfy customer requirements by selecting the solutions that have the highest AIR values. It basically shows how a particular engineering solution fits the requirements of the customer. Correlation values are decided on the basics of how much a particular solution fulfills the specific requirement. 9 is very high, 3 is medium and 1 is low. AIR numbers show us the suitability of the particular solution and how it fits the requirements. The top AIR numbers must be given special importance and must be thoroughly discussed with the CORA TEAM to make sure that the customer requirement is answered in the best possible way.
The highest importance rating (# is the AIR) of the engineer solutions will be listed as follows
The score of Hydrogen power is far higher than the others. Take a more deeper look into the solution, we find that it has a high correlation to the most important requirement (rated 5) of “Minimize the energy cost.” Auto Forklift product meets this requirement better than all the other competitors’ products do. There are four other requirements with high correlation to "decrease auto forklift size" are important since they are rated as 4. Among them, noting one that is “high reliability / lower maintenance costs”, we haven't quite met our goal yet, which indicates that we need to take more efforts in this area. Light weight of auto forklift has a high correlation to three important requirements. Our product currently meets our goal for each requirement. QR code scanning has a high correlation to two important requirements. Our product currently meets our goal for the requirement of “all day operation on a single charge”, but does not quite meet our goal for “green technology.” Although our product does better here than our competitors’, we need to look at ways to improve nonetheless.
From the calculated AIR values, Hydrogen Power has the highest value of 283. This thus became a MUST engineering solution that our company is going to apply within the whole process. As we climb up in those columns, we found all 9/5, then 9/4, then 9/3 combinations etc. These combinations were discussed with our team how we could satisfy those requirements best:
From the calculated AIR a value, the Light weight of auto forklift has the next highest value of 183. As we climb up in those columns, we found all 9/5, then 9/4, then 9/3, etc. These combinations were discussed with our team how we could satisfy those requirements best:
From the calculated AIR values, QR Code Scanning has the third highest value of 177. As we climb up in those columns, we found all 9/5, then 9/4, then 9/3, etc. These combinations were discussed with our team how we could satisfy those requirements best:
As we implement this practice we ensure that our product will have the best design with the best quality of our sustainable green purpose. The three solutions that has the highest AIR have priorities to help us fulfill customer requirement. The purpose of implementing this practice is also because to know that we are not able to satisfy every single customer, so the least important requirement could be eliminated, and the only way to make the correct decision is to do CORA analysis.
Your EM Decision
As an engineering manager, I will make sure that all products components will be outsource by each eco-friendly, sustainable and green, and total quality focused subcontractors, such as SEW Company, who will be the provider of all customized drive components, Nuvera Company, who provides the best eco-friendly Hydrogen fuel cell, Sunnen Company, who meet our specialized sustainable and green honing and rilling requirements, and Automate 2015, who is not only the critical information of green and sustainable focused and total quality focused subcontractors provider, but also the organization for us to promote our quality and green focused product within a sustainable and green and quality focused manner.
Having done the above analysis, I will first make sure the entire team understands the findings. Then I will create teams to work on improvements in design to help meet our quality goals. The first team, in collaboration with engineers from Nuvera Company and SEW Company, will look for ways to lower expected maintenance costs. Another team, in collaboration with engineers from Sunnen Company will look for way to make our power system “greener”. Although the lithium ion batteries our more energy dense and efficient than traditional lead acid batteries, we need to look into more sustainable source of recharging them.
Green Ocean are going to detail out quality focus procedures. We will establish quality control, and quality principles. We will create a quality system. After that we will follow the national and international standards. we will develop Quality Control in terms of actions we must take in order to allow the product, equipment, software, service, to conform to pre-set standards and policy. We measure actual quality performance, compare it with standards by using Quality Control. Beside that, we will have Quality Assurance, which as defined as a system of activities with the mission to provide an assurance that the overall quality control is in fact being done effectively according to professor Paul. G Ranky. We will set up our Quality System that represents the collective plans, activities and events that are provided to ensure that a product, process, or service will satisfy given needs. In this way, we will be able to achieve the "Zero Defect".
Collaboration
All products components will be outsource by each eco-friendly, sustainable and green, and total quality focused subcontractors, such as SEW Company, who will be the provider of all customized drive components, Nuvera Company, who provides the best eco-friendly Hydrogen fuel cell, Sunnen Company, who meet our specialized sustainable and green honing and rilling requirements, and Automate 2015, who is not only the critical information of green and sustainable focused and total quality focused subcontractors provider, but also the organization for us to promote our quality and green focused product within a sustainable and green and quality focused manner.
CORA, and the related methods discussed, will help us focus our team on quality. First and foremost, it keeps the focus on the customers and what they need. It involves all people on the team. It is not just done once and then set aside, but rather should be iterative to foster continual improvement. It helps us make decisions based on facts, data, and analysis. Finally, it shows us how our collaboration can mutually benefit our suppliers and us.
Based on what we have analyzed here, we are confident in our choice to collaborate with SpeedCell to develop lightweight textile shelves for our mobile application. We will work with Sunnen to design the system to control the movement of the shelves in the delivery trucks. Nuvera will provide the Hydrogen power needed to run the system, and based on this analysis will help us develop a greener charging system. Our design will be introduced to potential buyers at Automate 2015 in March. to design the system to control the movement of the Auto Forklift
Panorama Navigation Map
The given case, includes images, videos and interactive talking panoramas illustrating an area. Panorama technology is used for understanding improving various process. In the CIMPgr we use parent child relationship, in the same way in the panorama based process modeling we can have parent process. This child program shows input, output, control and resources. Merging of CIMPgr and Panorama-based process modeling will add up in exploring the data. This will helps us to reduce waste, save time and money and will result in a sustainable growth. We can use these in our company as a part of making it more lean and sustainable. We will use this technology to train our employees. We can also use it to show a person a company or a process. This is very helpful in improving process, which will allow our manufacturers to see this and at the same time, be creative because the panorama gives a better understanding of the visual content. A good picture worths thousand words.
Panoramic navigation map is an innovative map for GREEN mobility and challenges. The example illustrating an area of a small town in New Jersey on the East Coast of the USA. It tries to combine several different viewpoints. It enables an individual, as a sustainable green engineering explorer, to reduce waste and improve energy management. And It also helps an individual, as an eco-tourist, to enjoy the environment and the atmosphere by using this virtual world. It is really user-friendly.

Article 1 “Renewable Sources Provide over 20% of Global Power Production”
Continuously rising to a new record level, renewable energy, including heating and cooling from modern biomass, solar, and geothermal sources, liquid biofuels, hydropower, solar and wind, almost met one-fifth of world energy consumption, according to the new Renewables Global Status Report. Global renewable energy generation capacity jumped to a record level with the support of developing world’s policy. Developing countries play a significant role in supporting renewable energy. China, the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Germany remained the top countries for total installed renewable power capacity. China’s new renewable power capacity surpassed new fossil fuel and nuclear capacity for the first time.
I gained a hydropower and hydraulic engineering bachelor degree in China. Renewable energy is becoming more and more popular in China. I believe that the green energy and sustainable will diver the future.
I agree with Jia Wang and Yidi Wang that China government and enterprises are working on the green energy to reduce the pollution. Revolution takes time. We need to act fast, but at the same time be patient.
"Recently you’ve heard plenty of negative news about the environment of China, such as Beijing’s oppressive smog and the sky that is hazed. With the rapid economic growth in China, energy consumption and air pollution remains a concern and China has entered a phrase of rapid resource consumption. However, our government and some enterprises are facing these problems positively and seeking to resolve them. Form this articles, we have seen the efforts and improvements will continue. By Jia Wang"
"The whole essay is illustrating the huge amount of renewable sources that human are providing nowadays in the world. It is not hard to be surprised by the statistics in the essays as some data may shock. If recall what we are doing with our companies and assignments in this course, it is obvious that GREEN and SUSTAINABILITY is always the focus as well as the constraint of developing our company. I was excited when seeing China was mensione many times in the essay as China has been improving dramatically. As we all know that China has the largest population, thus spent much more power, energy and resources, which could potentially cause environmental hazard. However, as a Chinese, a lof of renewable sources are now eveywhere in China, for example, Solar PV, which provide mutiple useness in human daily life. I was also amazed by the start of fossil fuel and nuclear capacity for the first time in China, all these effort and improvements aims to protect and prevent, and should never stop. By Yidi Wang"
Article 2 “Eiffel Tower Now Greener Than Ever”
Eiffel Tower used renewable technology to generate green energy to cover its huge consumption of electricity, which reached 7.8 million kWh every year. It installed wind turbines that generate 8,000 kWh per year, water turbines that generate 4,000 kWh per year, and solar panels that provide 50% of the hot water. It harvests rainwater for use in the restrooms. Although the renewable energy covers a few of the consumption, but it is expected that SETE will use 9 MW solar power plant to provide 100% of the electrical energy for the Eiffel Tower.
This article opened my horizon of renewable energy use. Green and Sustainable will able to be utilized by so many industrials and place. New ideas popped out after reading this article, such as enable all the traffic lights with green and sustainable technology to save tons of electricity consumption. Green and Sustainable is no doubt the future.
I highly appreciate and agree with Jia Wang’s thought. She provided some similar examples, such like Shanghai who also consumes huge electricity bill on its Bund view. She mentioned the balance and relationship between Bund night view and number of tourism, and concluded that green and sustainability works not only on the consideration of environment, but also on a view of cost reduction that can help government and enterprises to achieve more profits.
I agree with Yidi Wang that it is also important to keep the aesthetic of the Eiffel Tower while upgrading it with green and sustainable energy. I believe that will also be the most significant customer requirement for SETE to satisfy.
"Like Victoria Harbour of Hongkong, the Bund of Shanghai, Eiffel Tower is the global icon of France. And they attract tourists by night view and lights view. When I went to Victoria Harbour, I enjoyed the Victoria Harbor night view and A Symphony of Lights and was shocked by its sparkling beauty, however, I did not consider the consumption of resources and power. The data provided by this article told us that the consumption is very large and the energy bill is very huge. I remembered that the guide told us that the mayor of Shanghai had ever banned light show of the Bund due to the cost of a huge energy bill, but the tourist number reduce sharply, the mayor had to remove the prohibition soon. In this aspect, SETE has done a great job and improved the Eiffel Tower’s sustainability by using wind turbines, water turbines, and solar panels. Thus, green and sustainability are not only the consideration of environment, but also help government and enterprises achieve more revenue and reduce the cost. By Jia Wang"
Article 3 “Bicyclists In New York City & DC Doubled In 4 Years”
More and more cities in United States have improved bicycle infrastructure and shown swiftly rising numbers of bicyclists. Washington DC and New York City are the forefront of the movement, with Washington DC being the leader. The concept has been widely accepted that bicycle is one of the most sustainable transportation investments.
This article reminds me of the green and sustainability concept I learned from Total Quality Management. It proves, again, that green and sustainability can be token action in everywhere. From all these three articles, we can conclude that there is a huge potential opportunity for implementing and developing green and sustainable concepts, ideas, technologies and policies. What professor Ranky said seems to be true that Green and sustainability is the new era.
Jia Wang’s observation and analysis of the revolution of the use of transportation in China reminds my memory of my bicycle life time 15 years ago. Bicycle was really popular at that time. Like what Jia Wang said, rapid economy development enables more and more Chinese to have vehicle. But thing are changing toward a better direction, because more and more cities in China, such as Hangzhou and Shanghai, have already worked on establishing of bicycle infrastructures. More and more people tend to use bicycle instead of cars. Things are getting better.
"When I was a child, most of Chinese people use bicycles to commute and a car is luxury to many people. Many people who have no automobiles envy those who have cars, and feel they will be happy when they have cars. With the fast development of Chinese economy, more and more people have automobiles, but traffic becomes slow and congests, and the large amount of CO2 is emitted. With more and more people driving instead of riding bicycles, people exercise much less than before. By Jia Wang"

I will grade, again, myself with an A+. I followed exactly from the syllabus and checked each task. I made sure that I have everything included. So I think I deserve A+. Besides I love quality focus concept. I want to improve China better place for living like what professor said. I read syllabus ahead of time and again and started assignment 2 early. I followed what is required in the syllabus and instruction of assignment 2 in the syllabus. I created the assignment 2 checklist. I read through the 3D text book chapter 6, 7 and 8. I communicated with many classmates, such as Yidi Wang, Jia Wang, about the articles. I pushed myself a lot on the thoughts regarding about the articles. I did more researches. I have been coming to class sitting in front of the class since the first class. I made a beautiful website. I worked hard. Moreover, I have 5 course this semester. But I have been putting a lot effort on each one form Sep 1st. I have been getting up 5 am everyday since the first day of Fall semester to read articles. I don't attend any activities in the campus in order to take advantage of all the time on studying. I learned a lot of TQM. I respect every teacher and professor. I love eco-friendly concept. I love eLearning pack. I still love sustainable and green concept. For all those facts above, I will grade myself obviously A+.
Thank you again for your leading and latest methods, your useful indeed templates, and assignments. I agree with you and like them.

- Hydrogen power (283)
- Light weight of auto forklift (183)
- QR code scanning (177)
- Hydrogen Power that relates customer requirements which score a 9/5 with this solution are as follows: Minimize the energy cost
- Hydrogen Power is very important, it could satisfy a lot of customer requirements that are ranked 5, as well as most 4 rankings. Through this specific engineering solution we are able to satisfy Minimize energy cost.
From the calculated AIR a value, the Light weight of auto forklift has the next highest value of 183. As we climb up in those columns, we found all 9/5, then 9/4, then 9/3, etc. These combinations were discussed with our team how we could satisfy those requirements best:
- Light weight of auto forklift that has relates customer requirements which score a 9/5 with this solution are as follows: decrease auto forklift size
- And interestingly, as we can see from the highest AIR solution, Light weight of auto forklift are required badly by customers as well.
Therefore we could conclude that the very fist customer requirements is going to be satisfied by applying the Best and Second Best engineering solutions.
From the calculated AIR values, QR Code Scanning has the third highest value of 177. As we climb up in those columns, we found all 9/5, then 9/4, then 9/3, etc. These combinations were discussed with our team how we could satisfy those requirements best:
- QR Code Scanning that relates customer requirements which score a 9/5 with this solution does not exist, therefore we climb down to the 9/4 combination. The requirements that has 4 as importance rates are: all day operation on a single charge
- Although there has no requirements as important as five, this specific solution has greatest relations to customer requirements and is able to satisfy.

Summary
We will use the Component-Oriented Requirements Analysis methods provided by Professor Paul Ranky. We used Deming's 14 Rules of Management and Quality Concepts to achieve our organization to make profit for survival and provide the best service or goods at the lowest cost. We have learned more about how to provide a quality product to our customers. We will try our best to obtain The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Baldrige National Quality Program. We saw where we were providing a better product than our competitors, and more importantly where we can continue to improve. everyone in our organization will contribute to improve our system. We will also performance TQM review. We will use Requirement Analysis Spreadsheet and Process-oriented failure Risk Analysis Spreadsheet. We will have Total Quality Control and follow Assurance Principles. We know 21 century is be knowledge driven century, so we will focus on this part. We will focus on innovation as well. We will model Total Quality Systems and Processes with CIMpgr.
Further Work Needed
Continuously improving our product and system is our goal and task. We will have further work on international greening approaches and solutions, sustainable green product design standards, sustainable green manufacturing standards, customer requirements analysis, product and process and service system risks, product reuse and green remanufacturing and recycling and reuse, global green supply chains, and keep studying from those international use-cases.There are constantly different ways in which we can improve the quality of our products and service. We have to keep in mind that we are never always at the highest level of quality, since there will always be aspects that will be needed to improve. Further work will include continuously improvement. This will allow us to cut costs and be quality focus, sustainable and green. We will try our best to keep working on making our processes more eco friendly, lean and sustainable.

Self Grade
